The Praça do Comércio is the most famous one in Lisbon. Formerly, it was the square which received the boats in the city and that’s why it is known as the door of Lisbon. Before being a square this area was the Royal palace one, which was destroyed during the earthquake in 1755. This huge space is located on the edge of the city, surrounded by buildings with a nice architecture which add a special personality to the place. The Triunfal Arch which is the beggining of the Rua Augusta and the statue of Saint Joseph I, the king of the earthquake times.
