Tenerife Overview

Language

The official language in the Canarian Islands so also in Tenerife, is the Spanish. The Islands are quiet far from the Peninsula, so they have the Canarian dialect, which counts with hundreds of different words from the Spanish.

Weather

The climate in Tenerife, same than in the rest of the islands, it is known to be like the eternal Spring. Summers are light and Winters warm, always with a lot of sun. It is simply the best weather ever, with temperatures which go from 17ºC in the Winter and 25ºC during the hot months. One of the peculiarities of the island is a result of its orography, which means it counts with 12 different subclimates. Within the same day, you can have snow in Teide and in the afternoon swimming in any coast of the island.

Money

EURO (€). Even it is located a bit far from the continent, the official currency in Tenerife is the Euro. You won’t have any problem on finding ATM’s and banks in the main cities of the island and specially in the touristic areas of the coast. More in the interior villages you should bring some cash.

When to go

Tenerife is a perfect place to visit the 365 days of the year. From November to March it is considered the high season, when many touritst travel to the islands escaping from the North, specially during the Christmas or Easter times, and it is a nice plan to escape in the winter to take a bath. But probably the best moment to visit Tenerife is between May and July. There are still not a lot of tourists and the weather is just perfect.

6 days. Tenerife is the biggest island of the Canarian archipelago and the busiest one in the whole Spain, so you will need some days if you want to discover a bit of everything, walk in the Teide and enjoy of the main beaches. Go with time and you will enjoy it better.

Store Hours

The shops in Tenerife open usually from 10h to 13h, with a break to lunch, and in the afternoon they open again from 17h to 20h. This is the most common schedule in the rest of the country.
