Yivli Minare Mosque is the symbol of Antalya because among other things it's more than 40 meters high and it stands out from the other buildings in the city. Although the minaret is next to the mosque, this is really what remains of what used to be a Byzantine church that was turned into a mosque later on. The minaret was raised by the order of Sultan Seljuk Alaeddin Kykubad (1219-1236) and the current mosque was later built. The Yivli Minare has a square base and is topped with an octagonal tambour and mosaics and tiles surrounding the minaret. It's one of the city's jewels.
Kesik Minaret is also quite popular in the city because it's kinda trunkated: a fire left no trace of what used to be a Roman temple which later became a Byzantine church and later a mosque. The only thing that survived was Kesik Minaret, hence its fame.
