Located in the French Riviera in France, in the Angels Bay, Nice is the 5th biggest city in France and the first touristic destination after Paris. It was one of the first cities receiving tourists, when the European aristocracy went to its beach searching calm and a relaxing environment. Nowadays, the city keeps being one of the most favourite cities in the country. Bathed by the Mediterranean Sea and just about 35 km... from Italy, Nice is a dynamic city, cosmopoitan, creative and where many artists like Matisse, Chagall or Picasso have found inspiration. In Nice the sun shines most of the year and its streets are always full of cheerful people and fun activities. Sun, beautiful beaches with clean waters, many museums, gastronomy, culture, rich people, yachtes and many water activities are waiting for you in this wonderful French city.

Nice Overview

Language

In Nice the official language and the most used one if the French. Nice was independent until 1860 and it had its own language, the Niçard dialect, but nowadays it is very weird to hear it. A part from the French, you won’t have problems to communicate yourself in English and in other languages thanks to the tourism which the city receives constantly.

Weather

For many people, Nice has one of the best weathers in Europe. Winters are short and with soft temperatures that usually never go under 8ºC. Springs and Autumns are basically perfects when it comes to the temperature, there are many hours of sun and it rarely rains. It is a luxury weather. In the summer, it is so hot with temperatures over 35ºC. Something positive is that being a city right next to the sea, the sea breeze smooths the heat.

Money

Euro (EUR). In Nice you won’t have problems with paying with credit card in almost every corner. You will find ATM’s, banks and exchange offices in the center of the city. It is a city completely prepared for the turism.

When to go

From March to November, any moment is the best to go to this beautiful city always sunny and full of charming people. If you don’t want to be there during the touristic wave, you should try to avoid the months of July and August, even these months are also probably the best to enjoy of the beach and the sea.

Days

2-3 days. Nice is a big city but what is very interesting is that you can arrive to the main spots of the city walking. You can dedicate couple days to visit the center of the city, with museums, iconic buildings and the rest of the time to enjoy in the beaches of the French Riviera. If you have more days you can combine it with visiting another nearby city or village.

Store Hours

Shops in Nice open Monday to Saturday from 10h to 19h, but in the Summer they are usually open until later, even on Sundays. Actually, in Summer you can buy at almost any time of the day.
