The Ibirapuera Park is the green lung of São Paulo and one of the largest green spaces throughout Latin America. The park is visited a lot by Paulistans, especially during the weekends. In addition, many events of the city such as concerts or artistic activities are also organized. The park has three artificial lakes and is full of small paths and places to explore by bike, jogging, walking or just lying in the sun while sipping coconut water.
The park project was left to the architect Oscar Niemeyer, one of the most influential figures in international modern architecture and a great explorer of the possibilities of reinforced concrete in construction and who based many of his designs in shapes of the female body. There are some of his architectural works in the park, such as the Auditorium although surely his most powerful work in São Paulo is the Latin American Memorial.
Leaving aside Niemeyer's works, in Ibirapuera park there are a few museums such as Afro Brazil Museum or the Brazil Museum of Modern Art
