The city of Florence is the capital of the Italian region of Tuscany. Its metropolitan area has more than 1,5 million population. The city of Florence is full of medieval and Renaissance buildings definetely worth to visit. If you are planning a trip to the Tuscany and concretely to Florence you can’t mis the famous Duomo and the Uffizi Gallery with the statue of Michelangelo’s David, but also the... Botticeli painting “The Birth of Venus”. You can also clim the tower at Palazzo Vecchio to have amazing views of the city or visit the museum inside to learn more about the Florentine history and the Medici family.It is also worth to take a walk and get lost in the city’s streets taking a delicious ice cream (it is said that the gelato at Gelateria Santa Trinita is the best). You can also visit the Piazza del Duomo and the Museum of Florence Dome, and after, walk to the river and over Ponte Vecchio to enter into the Oltramo quarter. It is also recommendable to head up to Piazzale Michelangelo, near San Niccolo neighbourhood and enjoy the views of the city, the skyline and the river.

The weather in Florence and in general in the Tuscany is very sunny and pleasant, but Florence is locate in a valley, so it can have different temperatures than other municipalities in the region. The warmest months are July and August, but June and September are also nice and warm.

The currency in Italy is the Euro.

When to go

It is very recommended to go to Florence in the late Spring or in the late Summer, so, in May-June or in September (more or less). Florence is wonderful at any moment of the year.

Days

Florence is a big city, and it has a lot of history and endless places to see. We recommend to go at least one week, so you can see a bit of everything, but to see the city well and its surroundings you could spend 2 weeks there and never be bored.
