Notre-Dame is a place you cannot miss if you visit the French capital. It is surrounded by the Seine River and forms a small island, which makes the arrival something very special. It is the see of the Archdiocese of Paris and is also one of the oldest Gothic-style cathedrals throughout France. The square with the main facade lets you see all details including the gargoyles, famous among other things from Disney’s film "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame".Just behind the emblematic building, there are small gardens open to the public. Definitely a good place to relax in the middle of Paris. Traditionally, the padlocks bridge (Pont des Arts) could be found near the cathedral, a place where lovers left a padlock as a sign of their undying love while the key was thrown in the Siena River. But one of the railings collapsed and the Parisian authorities have denied, until further notice, the practice of this tradition.
