Taj Mahal Palace hotel, next to Gateway of India, is one of the most famous buildings in Mumbai and one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. The building design is typical English although the domes are clearly Arabian and Indian influences. You can visit inside, with bookstores and shops and you can also enjoy an excellent meal, though the perception of the price depends on your country of origin.
In 2008 it was one of the areas that suffered the terrorist attacks in the city in which over 170 people died.
