Wine Route of La Geria is a proof of the important agricultural tradition of Lanzarote. One of the most famous crops are the vineyards throughout the island, in the region of La Geria. The vineyards grow in gray sand fields spreaded in the volcanic eruptions of the 18th century. Under a layer of ashes, the fertile land is very proper for the life. Farmers plant everything some metres under the sand after carving some wholes. To protect the plants from the wind they put some circular walls creating a landscape full of craters full of contrasts of black and green. The vineyards in the island are one of the most curious and unique landscapes. Also there are many wineries which you can visit and try their fruits and a good glass of local wine.
