The Castillo San Cristobal is the largest European fortification built in America. Unlike the Castillo del Morro, the Castillo San Cristobal was built to protect the capital of Puerto Rico of ground attacks. It has several levels and you can still visit the inside and see the rooms of former soldiers who defended the city. There is the option of hiring a guide to delve into the history of the castle, although throughout the building there are information panels that also allow to broadly know its history. The views from this part of the city are stunning and although the castle is not very large, it has plenty of places to photograph. It's a friendly place to visit during your trip to San Juan.

This castle is in the San Juan Historic Site along with the San Felipe del Morro and el Cañuelo.
