One of the most curious sites you can visit while your trip in Nice is the Ortodox Cathedral of San Nicolas. The Cathedral is the biggest Ortodox temple in Europe located out of Russia and it is one of the most beautiful buildings of the city. The temple was built following the orders of the empress Maria Fedorovna in honour to her son Nikolai who died in Nice in 1865. It took about 10 years to be built. The dome and the 6 crosses on the top of the cathedral are handmade with white marble. The building is really beautiful. Nowadays, the Cathedral also hosts a set of Russian art pieces and in the basement of the building you can find the Museum of the Russian Colony of the city.
