Assisi is usually connected with St. Francis of Assisi, which makes it a must-stop place for the pilgrims, but the city has a lot more to offer. It has the Basilica di San Francesco (13th century) decorated by artists such as Giotto, Cimabue or Andrea da Bologna; also the town’s Cathedral of San Rufino, the Convent of Santa Chiara, the Santa Maria degli Angeli church. You can also visit the nearby city of Cortona just next to Assisi.
