The Guggenheim Museum is the most famous site in Bilbao, and its building is already the symbol of the region. This spectacular ad unique architectural work of the architect Frank Gehry was built 1992 and 1997 with the main goal of changing the image of the city screened to the world. It is something very unique to see (the building) and inside there are several permanent and temporary exhibitions. One of the remarkable permanent exhibitions is La materia del tiempo by Richard Serra.

 

Outside the museum you’ll also find some very unique works like the Salve Bridge or the Mama and the Puppy sculptures. The bridge crosses nervión estuary and when crossing you’ll see the best views to the museum. Mama sculpture is a spider shape huge piece by Louise Bourgeois. This spider represents the contemporary art. The Puppy sculpture is a bear shape huge piece covered with thousands of flowers, by Jeff Koons. This flowered animal welcomes you to the museum in the entrance.
