Bilbao City Council and the Arriaga Theater are 2 very unique and historical buildings in the Basque capital and very representativ of the architectural style of the city. Both are located by the shore of Nervión estuary.
The City Council is a majestic building was built on the San Agustín convent ruins in 1892, after 9 years under construction. You can visit it inside (one of the most interesting rooms is the Arabic Hall) and it is worth to have a guide so you can hear good its history.
The Arriaga Theater is a colossal baroque-style building built in the end of the 19th century. Despite in the city there are many other theatres, it is probably the favourite among Bilbao citizens. It stands out for its façade very well preserved despite all the bad events it has suffered, like the fire in 1914 and the floods in 1983.
