Maó is Minorca's capital and it's biggest town. It's historical downtown has many interesting buildings such as the city hall, Santa Maria church or Sant Roc bastion, the main gate of the old wall that surrounded the town.
Though the capital, it's quite residential and tourists usually prefer Ciutadella -the other big town- to it. That's probably due to shopping areas and nightlife concentrating there. A must see is Maó's port, considered one of the best natural ports in the world. There you can find terraces, restaurants and clubs, though they only open during some seasons in the year.
