Monte Toro -Mount Toro-, situated right in the middle of Minorca, is the island's highest hill with 358m. On its top there's the Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Toro, a small shrine. Jst out of it there's the statue of Christ's sacred heart on the viewpoint. Legend tells it was a bull that found the Virgin there, hence its name. In the shrine, inhabited by cloistered nuns, there's an important statue of the Virgin carved in wood and there's a soouvenir shop and a restaurant with a terrace.
The viewpoint offers some different from expected sights in Minorca since you can see a large terrain area with the sea at the far end. Some clear days you can get to see Mallorca, another Balearic island.
