Ratafia is a very typical sweet alcoholic beverage in the province of Girona. It's usually taken as an aperitif but it's not a strict rule. The recipe has been changing and evolving but the most typical is the one that is made of brandy with lemon peel, carnations, cinnamon, nutmeg, skin of unripe nuts and some add nuts and herbs to enhance its flavor. The mixture is left to rest in the sun, usually for a month and a half, and then you it's ready to serve. Cheers!
