If you enjoy visiting buildings when you travel , the Rockery Building will rock you up because its appearance is different from the rest of the buildings in Chicago. You can say it has a really peculiar European aspect.
The building is in the middle of the financial area of the city and it was designed by two architects, Burnham and Root, in 1888. The facade has a renascence roman style, but the interesting thing happened almost 10 years later, when they ordered Frank Lloyd, one of the modern architecture fathers, to remodel the lobby and the backyard. These two areas are the hidden treasures of the building.
A curious fact is that it's pretty normal to see pigeons flying around inside and it is interesting to pay a visit during the first hours of the day, because they tend to make shows, and you may miss them if you go later in the day.
