In Alicante and Valencia, there are many tracts of land to grow fruits and vegetables. That's why salads usually appear on most charts of bars and restaurants and is also customary to eat them at home. The salad is also a widespread dish in the rest of the country and is nothing but vegetables cut into small pieces -usually lettuce is the base of the plate- mixed with other ingredients such as tomatoes, onions, olives, corn, cucumber, egg hard cheese, tuna, etc. To give a final touch, it’s flavored with oil, vinegar and a bit of salt.
