The Grand Canal is Venice's main channel and where the city's most famous and splendid palaces are, along with the Rialto Bridge. To get a proper view of the whole channel, it is best to get on a vaporetto -Venice’s water bus- and discover from the water, the details of the houses along the channel.
Some of the buildings are a little bit worn out because of time passing and moisture, but their appearance adds a certain charm to the place. You can also visit the channel on a gondola -Venice's traditional watercraft- and enjoy it Venetian style. There's no doubt this is the most magical and preferred option for the lovers. It is advisable to see the Grand Canal during the day but don't forget to visit it at night. The lights' reflection on the water makes the place even more beautiful.
