Piazza San Marco, 30100 Venice, Italy

Piazza San Marco is Venice's main square and one of the most famous squares in the world. In this square are located some of the most important landmarks in the city like the Doge's Palace, one of Venice's symbols of glory and power-, the Saint Mark's Basilica or the Campanile.
The entrance to the spectacular Basilica is free but it is a good idea to book a visit time in advance to avoid queues. You'll have to pay a fee in order to climb the Campanile tower, -which is more than 100 meters high- but it's worth it. The city's views you'll get from there are amazing. Leaving aside the buildings in Piazza San Marco, the pigeons are the next most famous attraction. It is quite common for thousands of pigeons to go to this square to enjoy the food that the tourists give them.
If you do not mind paying a lot and I mean a lot for a coffee, you can also sit on the terrace of the legendary Café Florian, -one of the oldest ones in Italy- and watch the square's movement from a quiet place.
