Tamsui is a city right next to Taipei with a lot of history. It is located in a very strategic area, right in the mouth of the Tamsui river, which explains why it was a defense area in the Taiwan Northern region for many years as well as a very commercial area in the country. The surroundings of the city were always very sheer, which made it even more difficult to be invaded. Furthermore, there is a natural port and lots of natural spots to be discovered in Tamsui, and now, with the metro connections, this area is one of the most famous near Taipei. If you go to Tamsui you can’t miss the Lovers’ Bridge, the fishing men pier and the Old Street.
