Castel Nuovo (“New Castle”) also popularly known as Maschio Angioino is a medieval castle located in front of Piazza Municipio and also Palazzo San Giacomo. It was first built in 1279, for many years being a noble and royal residence, and it is one of the land marks of the city of Naples.
