Castel Nuovo (“New Castle”) also popularly known as Maschio Angioino is a medieval castle located in front of Piazza Municipio and also Palazzo San Giacomo. It was first built in 1279, for many years being a noble and royal residence, and it is one of the land marks of the city of Naples. It is completely worth to take a tour around Castel Nuovo, from the Armoury Hall, the Palatine and the Saint Barbara Chapel, also the southern courtyard, the Charles V Hall and the Sala della Loggia where you’ll find exhibitions and cultural events.
