Sagres is a small village located in one of the sharp ends of the Iberian Peninsula. Portugueses chose the name of “the end of the world” for it, because from Sagres many naval expeditions were starting their trips, but also bad events like sackings or colonalization fights. Another remarkable fact is that many distringuished personalities studies in Sagres, like the King Ferdinand Magellan or Vasco de Gama.
Sagres is a calm village a bit isolated from the hustle and bustle of the other touristy areas, but its fortress and cliffs receive a huge quantity of visitors every year. The main attraction of Sagres it the Prince Henry the Navigator fortress, located in the surroundings of the municipality. It is a quite big fortress with views to the Cabo cliffs. Sagres has 3 beaches near but the Mareta and Praia do Tonel are the most lovely ones.
