The Desert Island, as its name indicates, is one of the less visitted beaches in Algarve, and one of the better preserved of the area. This uninhabited beach belongs to the Formosa river region and you can accessto it just by boat from Porta do Sol in Faro. During the trip you can see many types of birds like flamingos.
The sand dunes separate the sand and the sea from the vegetation, and there is just one restaurant in the whole island, where you can find fresh fish from the river.
