Ad Dir'aiyah or Old Dir'aiyah, between many other name is an oasis in the middle of the Desert of Saudi Arabia. It is located about 20 km from Riyadh and it was the first capital city of the Saudis unti the city was destroyed in 1818. In this place there are some ruins and sites, most of them renewed or in the process. Diriyah was also during a lot of time the house of the Royal family and it is definetely one of the open air areas which you have to visit while in Riyadh. Around the city there are many restaurants, shops and services.
