Lamas Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist temple: the most important one outside of Tibet and and one of the best known religious centers in Beijing.
Nowadays there's a group of of Mongolian priests dedicated to astronomy and traditional medicine. The most shocking is Buddha's statue, over 16 meters high and sculpted in a single Indian Salndalwood trunk.Around the statue there are some huge incense burnners, always smoking which give the place a special atmosphere. Really close to this temple there's Confucious Temple, another of Beijing's symbolic points.
